A little background:
16-03-2015: Wide eyed brave !:
Ah, Prontera. The jewel on the crown, the queen among cities, and the capital city of Rune Midgard kingdom. It is a sight to behold! There is always a lot of players here and that seems to be the case all the time. There are few important NPCs here as well. We went inside the room located in the center of Prontera and spoke with the Job Genie to become our respective first jobs .
There we were, an Acolyte and an Archer, with some initial freebie items provided by the Genie himself. We equipped the items, spoke with the Cartographer NPC (who seems to know his way around the world) and teleported to the Eden HQ. We had decided on doing the Eden Quests as much as we can. Just because Eden Group tries its best to help out wide eyed newbies like ourselves.
Once inside the Eden Group HQ, we spoke with the Assistant, registered ourselves, got a nice shiny brooch each to prove that. Next we spoke to Boya, who seemed to be a nice lady commander. She was nice enough to ask to talk to a Dog. No, this was a special Dog you see. Because it speaks.
Anyway, we went back to Prontera, spoke to the Cartographer again and visited the Desert city of Morocc. We went one map down and one map east of Morocc ot locate the nice wolf-ish Dog. He asked us to kill some birds and pups. So, we bloodied our hands. Finally after squishing a few pesky scorpions, which poisoned us, we completed his quests and were asked to report to Boya again. We walked back, electing not to waste the Butterfly wings and to spend some time exploring, to Morocc and teleported to the HQ again.
As a reward for our bravery, we were awarded some nice gear. After donning them proudly, we went to Payon cave and killed some undead Zombies and Skeletons. Also in the massacre, few Poporings and several Familiars were killed. Once we reached level 26, we went back to Payon and then to the HQ again. This time Boya asked us to go to the Payon cave entrance and speak to a nameless agent.
He was not a shady guy as we had expected. Rather, he turned out to be a nice guy who asked us to kill only two monsters inside the cave - the skeletons and the Poporings before announcing the quest over. For our remarkable achievement, we received some sweet-ass-second-level gear from Boya's assistant again in the Eden HQ. Now we were asked to return as level 40 adventurers.
This was the time we stumbled upon a way to look at the world map (pressing Ctrl + ~) and the level of monsters in it (TAB). We also found this neat looking navigation tool in the world map that shows you the way to reach a certain place you selected in the map. This is awesome and cool for new players to find their way around the world. But it was rather not needed for us since we mostly figured out the way just by looking at the map and using the Cartographer's help (that guy seemed to be in all the towns).
We went to Payon again, went one map south and two maps east. A level 55 place where we were expecting dangerous-kill-on-sight monsters. But found a weird tree monster named the Greatest General. The boars here hit us too much and I was a very weak Acolyte. So we elected to snipe off the tree. Unfortunately in this map, Sougyo no Kotowari died twice because when you hit the Greatest General while standing in front of him, he casts some spell on you (even if you are at a distance) and this instantly killed him to my horror. I couldn't heal him on time...!
After about 20 minutes of walking around and sniping the Generals from a distance, we saw the boss tree monster. This guy jumps a few feet (even though he is a tree) and hits ya! The Swift Greatest General! With my Healing skills, we survive and slay this guy for a whole level of experience!
It is here, in this location, our story ends for the day. I will narrate more next time our heroes log in...
