Spoiler

Undersea City is jRO's overhaul of Byalan Dungeon level 5, a place that's been mostly forgotten and has never seen much use despite employing unique assets.
With this update it becomes a new end-game spot, providing high experience and new loot alike.

Spoiler

To begin, you must have a base level of 140 and sign up for the UCIT, which can be done by speaking to Professor Viewt in Izlude.
The first two quests provide hefty amounts of experience while the last one is optional and grants a moderate amount of experience and a new headgear.

Spoiler

After completing the first set of tasks Professor Viewt offers, you will be allowed access to his workshop, where you can craft a dozen of new equipment pieces. However, not all of them are available right away. To unlock the full catalogue, you must get on Viewt's soft side and help a certain grieving mermaid.

In order to craft this new equipment, multiple things are required, including new miscellaneous items dropped by monsters from the overhauled map. If you wonder where the Kraken's parts come from, Kraken will explode upon death and drop those on the floor. This was done due to the limited amount of items a loot table can hold.
Five pieces of new equipment are also dropped by the new mini-bosses, Kraken's Tentacles and Kraken itself.

Spawn rules for Kraken have been changed and it's now a scripted event. To summon Kraken you must first kill all five Kraken's Tentacles, their locations are marked by red dots on the map above. Those tentacles provide a good amount of experience plus Magical Blade [2] and Jormungandr's Flower, used to craft new equipment and during the Cursed Mermaid quest.
Once they're dealt with, the map will shake and Kraken will spawn in the middle of the map, indicated by the yellow dot. This is also where his tombstone will appear, indicating the time until tentacles respawn again, regardless of where Kraken has been killed. Tentacles will not respawn until Kraken has been dealt with.

New minibosses are:

  • Takun and Ankaa, you've seen those two best buddies around already but now they're stronger than ever and drop additional loot as well as a new miscellaneous item used in the workshop
  • Abyssal Merman, coming from the darkest depths, this merman on steroids drop the new Flow Shield
  • Poseidon, this high-ranking sea wizard carries the Flow Manteau
  • Siren, an exceedingly powerful drowned hag that possesses the Flow Shoes
  • Baby Kraken, mischievous spawn of Kraken that swallowed the Crystallized Water Bead

On a side note, six new equipment pieces have been recently released on jRO and will be added when more information is available.

To everyone on Leika, there are two NPCs in every town, the Cool Event Staff and Kafra Voting Staff. If we vote for the Cool Event Staff, everyone on the server will have access to a teleport service to Byalan 3. Saves most of the walking so help out with that! It lasts for a week and then people just need to vote again.

As a note, we've added a content guide for the Undersea City update to the wiki ( http://leika-ro.net/...e=Undersea_City ) . It has about 90% of the content related to this area, I think it's just missing 2 quest pages. (Totally not bringing this thread back from the dead after almost a year. Nope.)
