I will pre-note this: I have not been in game yet, and have seen only one mention of the word "Baby" in one post before asking this.

I am curious as there is limited or no information on the Baby Class system. Are the baby classes allowed here? [Including Baby Third classes?] This is amongst the biggest reason I enjoy playing, as the Baby Classes can pack as much of a punch as 2nd class trans.

So my question is as such:

Does the Job Changer NPC, or Class Genie I believe it's called, allow for Baby Class job changes? And if so, do the custom NPC areas allow for those jobs to enter and level with them? When we get to job level 10 for our job change, we become Baby Class, do we have a skill point resetter? Or job point eraser? Just curious.

Thank you in advanced.

yes, our Job Genie has support for all Baby classes.

we also have a Skill and Stat Resetter that works perfectly with Baby classes.

there are virtually no restrictions on Baby classes outside of no Baby Trans classes.

Why would you want RK without spiral, berserk and more hp, RG without more hp, GX without katar mastery and EDP, chaser without preserve, chase walk and reject, ranger without wind walk, performers without tarot, WL without amp, ganb, soul drain, sorc without fog, fiberlock, soul change, health conv and eventually mind breaker, mechanic without buffs and HSCR, geneticist without FCP and AD, and sura without zen and more hp? I could understand AB because assumptio sucks in renewal for every class except RK and RG, but even then you can always use those 20 extra skill points for something else, and AB and RG profit from this the most. I don't see the reason for baby classes except baby WoE which isn't even on every server. I'm really curious why would you make crippled class on purpose.

Also while we're at baby WoE, pls implement it at some point.

Ranger without wind walk or RK without spiral is kinda masochistic fun. Or you mean roleplaying child and calling other people mum and dad is fun? I could understand that but then I'd want to hear on PM about your childhood. As a future teacher, for science ofc.

Well, for my playing a Baby Class is other kind of fun. You have certain boundaries and penalties in you skills and stats. I like to try various builds and push them to the limit and compare to the normal classes. If you are a "hardcore" player, I don't expect you to understand the fun I'm having :P. Also, Baby-only skills to annoy "parents".

I'm wierd like that.

Also, Baby Class sprites look adorable (and hilarious - do they even make RG armor that small?)

Psor, saying, that you can't have fun while your 3rd class isn't maxed to the limit is like saying that Ragnarok without third and trans classes wasn't fun at all and people still playing it have... issues.

It's not masochistic to play the game your way. Gravity certainly approves.

The difference is that people play pre-re and pre-trans classes on pre-re and pre-trans servers, not on renewal servers. It's about crippling your class in comaprison to people you play with, not about liking certain mechanics/episodes/playstyles more. Just look at this example:
3rd class on renewal server = you have as big potential as others
baby 3rd class on renewal server = you have worse potential than others
trans class on pre-re server = you have as big potential as others
baby class on pre-re server = you have worse potential than others

So it's not about playing on different servers (because this doesn't have anything to do with baby classes), it's not about being perma 2nd class on renewal server (because nobody does this anyway and we aren't talking about it), but about willingly crippling your character which means you have less chances to win against others and not being able to contribute as much to your party/guild/whatever. Who would you take into ET run? Sorcerer with soul change or sorcerer without it? Wouldn't you feel bad if you were sorcerer and couldn't support your guildmates with things every other sorc can?

And I'm not trying to force anyone to play the same way I do, not shittalk anyone because of this. I just want to hear reason because I'm simply curious. And "it's fun" is halfassed reason. You can use the same phrase for everything you do, what I'm ineterested in is why people find something fun. For example I could understand if someone told me that he made baby class for challenge and overcoming challenges is satysfying, or to ridiculeand make fun of enemies in WoE because revenge or being better than someone else feels good. But very few people actually give you legit reasons when you ask them about "fun".

About being masochistic...
Yea, sound about right. I like being masochistic in games - playing an Argonian mage in skyrim, playing the Ringmaster in FlyFF as a DPS because its attack sequences look nice, wierd skill combinations in Dungeons of Dredmore or playing out-of-meta, forgotten champion in League of Legends (or just overlooked one, and using his strenghts noone knows about agains enemies, but paying a price of being weaker in many, many aspects). For me, playing games in a masochistic way is fun. Same with baby classes in RO.

Was it satisfactory? Hope it was, I can not really define "fun".

On a side note - yay, a discussion.

There might be many reasons for doing things like that. For example; people can play baby classes like an alternative to expanded classes - you can still play taekwon while not minding not being OP like rangers and you'll still contribute to your guild by... simply playing! It's not always about winning PvP / WoE matches or defeating MvP's quickly enough. Some people just want to play that Massive Multiplayer Online Game just for having fun by partying with others / doing random stuff.

You might have forgot that fun doesn't always equal winning / owning or contributing to the current "meta". Many times it's just playing with others the way you want to play.

Do you know any perma taekwon who doesn't aim to be ranked taekwon? Again, it's not about different classes. It's about the same class being crippled and not being crippled on purpose.

Also regarding your last paragraph, this is the reason I'm asking what people find fun in this. If I thought that only winning and contributing to society (because tbh you can't really speak about meta when RO scene is fucking mess and you can't get non-bugged and non-customized server, lot of stuff works differently on lot of servers) is fun then I'd just say whoever makes baby class is retarded and should reroll class and git gud.

Wow, this turned into a whole discussion, but for myself. I choose to play the Baby Class for a few reasons:

  • A. I enjoy the smaller sprites--too often on popular servers you see full-size people, Baby's have a smaller sprite--and if ever we get the option to go smaller--via skill or item, we are barely seen in pvp/woe type events.
  • B. I'm not huge on attacking people. I never have been I have always been one for collecting headgears, and being social--call that what it is, but there are very few reasons I would ever really get up to fight--some guild is really going to have to have a drive forward. And not "because they are geared out" or "Have strong players" I'd do a guild with friends, or people I care to do smaller events within. Baby's are just fun!
  • C. I hate--Looking the same.
  • D. Since I'm not one for heavy pvp, Emperium breaking, WoE, or large fighting based events I'm not looking for skills. I play 100% on a laptop, so skill mashing has *NEVER* been my thing. Why get a class that has so many skills I lack enough keys on 1 action bar to use? Typically I use my basics. I am a visual person.
  • E. If I cared for the skills I'll make a normal class, If I cared for PVP I wouldn't be making a SHADOW CHASER as my first character.

I'm just an odd person. :]

Shadow Chaser is actually one of the best PvP classes. PvP isn't just killing.

@psor, you are correct in Pvp is not just killing, it is about competition, putting one player against another and seeing who wins.

I prefer to avoid conflict--my job gives me enough of that daily, as do my courses in school. If I am going to enjoy something I would prefer to have limited drama around me.

Masochism was mentioned earlier--I'm straight out a submissive, when it comes to a competition. I take the passive approach.

Why not to add variants? They'll give just 2% more hp than normal ones. These few more def and mdef are almost nothing.
