   Well, I've been debating whether or not to put my opinion down on this thread for a long time, and I think now that the argument is at its peak, it's a better time than ever for me to do so. I will mention that the majority of this post is aimed at Kamiiyu, but I'd like to see everyone here read and at least consider what I have to say.  Now, I just want to say first and foremost that I'm downright disgusted. I'm disgusted at how spoiled and ruined the RO community has become over the past five years. I'm disgusted at the way people just talk shit about others in anonymity around the internet. I'm disgusted at this customer-to-agent complex some of you people have. Most of all though, I'm disgusted every time I see someone else act entitled to another's time and energy; complaining and asking for things in such a spoiled way.

    I fully support free speech on the net and all, and while I'm all for honesty through brutality, I am not for abusive whining. Let's face it; the gaming community consists of far more immature, superficial gobshites now then if ever has in the past. Gaming is rarely just a fun activity anymore, and the majority of "adults" in the community act like absolute children. The fact that our diminishing RO community is infected too just sickens me. No one is willing to admit that they were wrong first, and everyone wants to be listened to. Everyone wants to be the best; and because of that, being the best becomes more important then being a part of the community that made you that way to begin with. I understand that people get impatient; but you've got no idea just how stressed out the people running this server are. Until you get to know someone, you have no place mocking them. Until you offer to help them, you have no right to criticize their work. And hey, Rikter's got enough on his plate as it is. Do you really think you're convincing him to code any faster?
 
     Now Kamiiyu, you want the server to be out sooner, right? You're upset at how long it's taken for the server to officially release, right? Well then, stop blaming the guy that's devoted far more time and energy to making this server a possibility than anyone else here. No, how about you leave the poor guy alone and yell at me instead. What do I mean? Well, let me explain.

    I'm sure most of you have already realized that I'm not a staff member anymore. The reason for this is very simple; I did not have the time, nor the skills to start helping out right off the bat. What did Rikter do? He tried to give me as much of a chance as possible. He tried to be patient with me. In the end though, I failed him, and I held him back. Nonetheless, I could never blame him for "letting me go," and quite frankly, I'm glad he made the decision to find a new Dev. I'm proud of him for cutting me off in order to accelerate the growth of this server. Why? Because it's truly worth it for me to face the community, humiliated, and say "I was in over my head" to see the server take another step in the right direction.

     Go ahead and laugh at me. Go ahead and yell at me. Tell me I'm an idiot. Do what you guys did on 4chan /vg and /rog (yes I saw and read all of it. And no, I didn't put more effort into my signature then I did into the server, as my signature took less then ten minutes to make). Hide behind your computer screen and put me down (to my goddamn face this time please), but do not mock this server's Staff for such a trivial matter. I mean, bringing up the issue of server release and asking for a potential release date is fine. What's not fine is throwing a hissy fit when you're told to wait a while longer. And that's exactly what you’re doing; throwing a little hissy fit and crying like a child. Wanna be treated like an adult? Wanna be treated with respect? Then shut up and give respect first; especially to the staff members that are trying to serve you (don't bite the hand that feeds you). Now, I don't know Rikter too well, but I can promise you that he's a good man who doesn't get enough time to himself. I haven't learned everything about Terp, but I'm confident that one's a hard worker. And hey, everyone knows that Frost is an ass, but at least he's a helpful ass. As for the rest of the staff (or rather future staff), I haven't met you, so I won't say anything about you. Am I just picking sides? Hell no. I take the good and bad from both sides of an argument and try to make genuine light of them, no matter how sappy I have to get in the process. I'm not speaking with any bias, and the best proof that I can offer are the rest of my posts on the forums so far (such as a time that Rikter lashed out here. I'd easily agree that he shouldn't have been so defensive. In any case, part of my own personal integrity demands that I be honest with everyone, even if what I have to say is harsh).

    I know it's hard for you adults to say "I was wrong, and I'm sorry" unless there's something in it for you. So, I'll be the first one to humble myself and apologize for postponing the server's release date (remember? I didn't have the immediate ability to help, so the things I was relied on to do didn't get done for a while). But you know what? I'm not going to just sit back and do nothing about it. No matter the attitude of this server, I still promised to help out. I promised to take suggestions. I promised to make more time for this little home that I call RO. As of right now though, those are all empty promises; and I'm sincerely sorry for that.

    Again, make fun of me. Get mad at me. Look at me as this server's current failure and former setback. I have thicker skin than you do. I'm tougher then you are. I can take it without complaining, retaliating, or losing my composure. Leave Rikter and his staff out of it though. They've worked their asses off trying to put stuff together for the people on this server; and some of the scripts they're working on haven't even been attempted before. Why do they do it? Because they believe in making the most out of this game while it's still around. I'd love to help them fulfill that vision; and I'd love to see the community help at least boost the staff's morale. You want results? Then stop convincing the staff that they're doing all of this for nothing. Ever try saying "thank you" to Rikter, Terp, or Frost? I promise it's a much more effective way of getting the results you so desire. And no, you don't have to kiss their asses, and they don't have to kiss yours. In the best case scenario, we treat each other as equals, and we listen to one another with respect and curiosity to the good and the bad (unlike TrueRO's staff). Why? Because we're all people here. We're not above each other.
 
     This should be a community dedicated to enjoying and improving the game; a community made up of casuals, pros, scrubs, veterans, noobs, socials, and all kinds of people. All I see though are some few people who try to be respectful and informative, while the rest just talk shit about everyone around them. Is that how you get off? Mocking people for things they can't help? Is that where you get your sadistic pleasure from? Let me answer for you; yes. You do get your pleasure from that, because you're a cowardly little troll who thinks too fucking highly of him/herself. Let me be clear, I still support open speech, and I think everyone should have the right to yell if they want to. Furthermore, I don't think that you have to contribute to the server in order to have the right to complain about it. Everyone should have the right to free speech, complaining, and contribution at their own will, so long as that will doesn't impose harm on anyone else. However, because of this free speech, 99% of the RO servers out there have been flooded by bitching little trolls like you. They're all generic, they're all the same, and I am appalled to see that they're trying to come to this server too. And hey, at the very least, if you're not actually going to do anything to help, then just stay quiet and let the staff work on the server in peace.
 
     Now personally, I prefer to get things done manually; to accomplish things myself. I may not have the ability to help out right now, but that doesn't mean I can't try. I don't need some fancy tag that says "Staff" to improve my coding skills or submit scripts to Rikter. I don't need your support to do it either. I still plan to fulfill all of the promises that I made, even if I can't do it right away. I'm not just going to sit back and whine on the forums. I'm not going to lie to this community or hide any of my mistakes. Honesty means transparency, and if no one else is willing to live in a castle of glass, then hopefully I can convince at least some of you to reconsider by putting up walls of glass of my own. It's maturity. It's facing your problems. It's owning your mistakes. It's being an adult.

     Why is it that we teach the children in kindergarten to apologize and listen to others, but a fully grown man is considered "a real man" if he admits to his own mistakes? In this way, we have become children that rely upon the elites of our community for sustenance and entertainment, be it managers, administrators, teachers, politicians, or world leaders.
 
 
 
 
    I just... I'm tired of seeing this nonsensical shame and cruelty from the gaming community year after year. I'm tired of seeing someone else get put down over a matter that they can't help, and reading this diseased thread was the breaking point for me. I had to put my thoughts down somewhere. I mean, some communities are very successful. Markiplier's YouTube community is an incredible example of a large, supportive community that's essentially all about having fun and raising money for charity. But you know, RO is different. It's an old, unstable game that requires a lot of Devs to maintain. RO may be incredibly outdated, but it's always going to hold a special little place in my heart. I know, I know, that's mushy and dumb of me to say. But really, for the past decade, RO's been the game that I would turn to for relaxation when I was breaking down in the real world. RO used to have a wonderful community; and back before RE, I wanted to be a part of that community so badly that I became obsessed. I became a pro. I got all the god-gear. I led the strongest guild on my server and fought at the front of every woe. I became unbeatable, everyone knew my name, and it felt outstanding. But you know what else I did? I spent countless hours helping less skilled players and having fun with other people that didn't have as much "stuff" as me. I'd teach others the game and only insult them sarcastically. I'd never just assume that I was better than anyone, and being the best never became more important than the players I interacted with, and I felt that showing that through my attitude was the most important thing about RO.
 
     Of course, I'm sure this community is going to make fun of me. I'm sure /vg and /rog are going to laugh their asses off and say "Gio is the new Psor" (again). I'm sure some of the people who claimed to be my friends are going to talk shit about me (again) for making this post. In retaliation though, I'd only wish that they could see some of these things the way I do. So come on guys... can we just stop? I don't want to have the need to step in and defend people like Rikter anymore. I don't want to see this group consisting of nothing but lummoxes. Please, just humble yourself and grow up a bit; there's nothing wrong with admitting defeat and learning from your mistakes. That doesn't mean let go of your rambunctious, rude personality. Hell, I have a personality that could pass as downright cruel and demonic, but I'm also genuinely polite to the common man, and I find joy in making someone else's day. Trust me, it takes an incredible amount of force to make me treat someone the way this community has been treating each other.  

Edit: Time to watch the trolls make fun of me for typing as much as I did. Do what your daddy did and take a few minutes to read the newspaper, folks.

I rein it in online since adding swears to sentences I type out is extra work (As opposed to the casual and automatic way they're added to my speech in reality), and also that some people don't appreciate hearing it a lot. I'm more lax about it here since I figure everybody on the server at the moment is mature enough to handle a fucking swear here or there.

 

I'll probably clean it up later on when we get some impressionable youngins/people who complain about bad language enough for me to notice.

To me it's not really a big deal if the server gets delayed a bit. I'm not putting in any effort to help on the development side of things, so I can't really bitch about things taking longer. At least you tried, Gionelles. Keep it up!

 

Looking for somebody to blame is a waste of energy. The wheel weaves as the wheel wills. May as well take up knitting or something if you guys are that desperate for something to spend time on.

It kind of confirms something for me, that I definitely wouldn't have the time or resources to staff a server atm, if Gionelles didn't have it.

My presence in the community is typically sporadic at best, so it would be a bit of a dick move if I was in a position like that, and disappeared for weeks on end all the time.
