Overview
Adventuring by yourself can be lonely. Not long ago, it wasn't entirely unheard of for adventurers to "adopt" relatively harmless monsters, such as Porings and Lunatics. Over time, adventurers began to want not only these kinds of monsters, but others, to have as companions on their journeys. Those that were interested and dedicated enough studied the monsters, learning their strengths and weaknesses, their likes and dislikes, and eventually compiled encyclopedias on how various monsters in Midgard could be tamed. They also found that once a strong enough bond was forged between adventurer and monster, the monster started granting special powers to their owners.
Taming a Monster
Each kind of monster in Midgard has its own likes and dislikes. Items that they particularly loved have been written down as their tamable item. Once you have such an item, you can attempt to tame the monster.
- Find the monster you want to tame on a map it spawns on.
- Double-click the item in your inventory. This will turn your cursor into a targeting cursor with a halo icon.
- Carefully click the monster in order to begin the taming process.
- Note: It is best to attempt this on a monster that is alone with no other monsters around.
- Note: If you have the targeting cursor on and you mis-click--such as clicking on another monster or the ground, or another part of the interface--the taming item is consumed. Be careful!
- If the monster is clicked on successfully, a slot machine will appear in the center of your screen. Click on the slot machine to begin slowing down the reels.
- If the slot machine lands on "Success," you tamed the monster! You will obtain the monster in egg form in your inventory. If the machine lands on "Failure," you were unsuccessful in taming the monster and you will receive nothing.
